Property and Maintenance Manager
The Property & Maintenance Manager will embody the ideals and spirit of Unicamp. S/he will be in charge of keeping the property and buildings of the camp in good repair and maintaining and testing the drinking and pond water. She/he reports to the Camp Director and works closely with the Board Property Chair concerning priority projects and may participate in renovation and new buildings. S/he works closely with the Camp Director and Senior Staff members to ensure smooth camp operations and supervises and develops the Assistant Environment Director, assigned junior staff, and CITs.Responsibilities include:
- Building repairs and finishing
- Campsite maintenance
- Grounds-keeping including grass-cutting, weed-wacking, pond-skimming, beach-raking, tree-cutting, fire-building
- Managing garbage and compost system
- Septic system and outhouses
- Water treatment and testing
- Renovation and building as required
- Animal control
- Signage and gatekeeping
- Road, path, and trail repair
- Maintains work shed and work supplies
- Manages outsourcing of minor/emergency repair work
- Maintains fire safety equipment and protocols
Preferred Qualifications
- Member of a Unitarian Universalist Congregation
- Skills with basic plumbing, carpentry, electrical, painting, tree and wood cutting, and landscaping
- Familiarity with Unicamp
- Previous camp, community or conference centre experience
- Excellent organizational skills
- Knowledge of water and sewage systems
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills
- Knowledge of sustainable environmental building methods
Duration of employment and salary June-September 2008
- $450 per week X 11 weeks full-time
- off season work to be negotiated on a as needed basis
