Unicamp Operations Crew Staff
The Operations Crew staff will embody the ideals and spirit of Unicamp. S/he will assist with maintenance of the property and facilities, food preparation and the cleaning of accommodations, washrooms and the dining hall/kitchen. S/he reports Operations Crew Supervisor or other Managers as directed. All operations crew staff positions will be cross-trained and expectations are that junior staff may be assigned to other duties as needed.Responsibilities include:
- Working as part of a team,
- Cleaning dishes, food surfaces, tables, dining hall washrooms and floors, and outdoor patio tables,
- The preparation of nutritious, nut-free meals suitable for vegetarians and omnivores,
- Following Health and Safety requirements for kitchen, dining hall, and water, including fly control, food coverage, wearing hairnets, and handwashing,
- Assisting the cooks to prepare meals and snacks,
- Building repairs and decorating,
- Campsite maintenance,
- Grounds-keeping including grass-cutting, weed-whacking, pond-skimming, beach-raking, tree-cutting, fire-building,
- Garbage and compost,
- Septic system and outhouses,
- Renovation and building as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Member of a Unitarian Universalist Congregation,
- Experience in the hospitality industry, food handling, house cleaning,
- Interest in basic plumbing, carpentry, electrical, painting, tree and wood cutting, and landscaping,
- Ability to learn quickly and work independently, completing tasks thoroughly,
- Familiarity with Unicamp,
- First Aid or Lifesaving
Conditions of employment and salary:
- $175 per week plus room and board X3-9 weeks,
- Off season work to be negotiated on an individual basis,
- One day off per week,
- Work week runs Sunday until Saturday, unless otherwise noted. Please arrive Saturday and get picked up Sunday,
- Attendance of Staff Training Week is mandatory and paid.
