UniCamp Assistant Kitchen Manager/Cook
The Assistant Cook will embody the ideals and spirit of Unicamp. S/he will be in charge of running the kitchen when the Food Service Manager is off. The Assistant Cook will supervise the junior kitchen staff, and CITs assigned to the kitchen in conjunction with the Food Service Manager. A significant part of this position is maintenance of high health standards in the kitchen and dining hall.Responsibilities:
- Facilitates staff development and accountability
- Ensures Unicamp rules and policies are understood and followed,
- Participates in scheduling of kitchen staff,
- Cooks and supervises meal service,
- Assists in the purchase of food and kitchen equipment/supplies,
- Assists in the supervision and evaluation of kitchen staff.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Member of a Unitarian Universalist Congregation,
- Cooking, nutrition and food handling experience including vegetarian meals,
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills,
- Familiarity with Unicamp,
- Previous camp, community, or conference centre experience,
- Excellent organizational skills,
- Access to a car.
Conditions of employment and salary:
- $275-400 (depending upon experience) per week X 8 weeks full-time, late June to Labour Day. Specific dates to be negotiated upon signing of contract.
- Off season work to be negotiated on an individual basis,
- One and a half days off per week, not during weekends,
- Work week runs Sunday until Saturday, unless otherwise noted.
